Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Festival - 2006

It is a well known fact that Freemasons support Charities - of all descriptions.  On Friday 24th March 2006 the Province of Norfolk with up to 500 (Brethren and Wives / Partners) attended the Festival Banquet held at St Andrew's and Blackfriars Hall.   The celebratory banquet was as great a success as was the outcome of the Festival itself. This celebrated the culmination of a seven year period of fundraising in aid of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution. At the beginning of the seven-years the Province of Norfolk set itself a target of £1,500,000.   This period ended on the 31st December 2005 and we are particularly delighted to announce the final total of £2,941,022: double the target!! The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution is an organisation offering a wide range of care, support and assistance appropriate to an individual’s need, to Freemasons and their dependents.   The R.M.B.I., in common with all other Masonic Charities does not ask the general public for financial support, but relies on the generosity of Freemasons for it’s funding.  The methods of fundraising are almost as varied as the charities supported – barbecues, quiz nights, raffles and sponsored activities, to name but a few, as well as regular collections at meetings. In addition to the support for the R.M.B.I. the Freemasons of Norfolk have not forgotten their local communities and have continued to support in all ways, not least financially, a vast range of Charities.   Indeed during the last four years over £250,000 has been donated to more than 260 local community charities ranging from Quidenham Children’s Hospice; Caister Lifeboat; Norfolk Zipper Club; Downham Market Otters Swimming Club for the Disabled; West Runton Scout Group; Victim Support.
