The Masonic Trust For Girls and Boys

Origin

One of the recommendations of the Bagnall Committee was that the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls and thr Royal Masonic Institution for Boys should be amalgamated to form one Charity. This was implemented during 1986 by merging the two Institutions into the Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys.

Aim

The objects of the Trust are to relieve poverty and to advance education. Those eligible for assistance are the children (including adopted children and step-children) of any age, of Freemasons under the United Grand Lodge of England who are considered to be in need of assistance. The Trust also has power, provided that sufficient funds are available, to grant assistance to any child who is not the child of a Freemason. The aim is to provide, so far as possible, the same opportunities in life as would have been available to the child concerned had death or other misfortune not occurred within the family.

Management

The M.W. The Grand Master is the Grand President of the Trust. The affairs of the Trust are directed and controlled by a General Court which meets at least once a year and, as occasion demands, Special General Courts. Those entitled to attend and vote are Patrons and representatives of Patron Lodges of the Trust.
